Boy Scouts Take to the Skies

Full Description:

12-year-old Philip Nixon, a Vero Beach Boy Scout, described the buildings he saw from 1,500 feet up high and Indian River County as looking like "Legos."

Richie Marini, on the other hand, said that what he saw from above was a land that looked "like clay."

The kids, two of the 80 Boy Scouts who took to the skies as passengers at an experimental aircraft and other general aviation planes at the local municipal airport, had mixed reactions to their experience.

Members of the local chapter of the nationwide Experimental Aircraft Association introduced the boys to the thrill of flying in two-seat aircraft to helping them get their Aviation Merit Badges.
