Pilot Club of Vero Beach

Full Description:

The Pilot Club of Vero Beach has been in existence since 1958 when it was begun by a group of civic minded Vero Beach business women who wanted to improve life in their home town. It is a chapter of Pilot International, an organization whose main focus is dedicated to research and relief of the delibilitating effects of brain related diseases. However, the Pilot Club mission includes helping the needy, and financially supporting local safety, health and educational organizations. Pilot gets its name from the river boat pilots of the early nineteen hundreds whose skill in steering a true course through obstacles was much admired. Membership is open to IRC residents with an interest in helping needy children,and working toward improving the quality of life in the community while enjoying social interaction with friendly members. Currently, meetings are held from noon till 2:00 pm on the third Friday of each month at the Culinary Capers restaurant. A Fall Luncheon Card Party and a Spring Fashion show are two main fund raisers held each year.
